Why doth thine heart carry thee away? And why do thine eyes wink?


What is man, that he should be clean? And he which is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?


He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength: Who hath hardened himself against him, and prospered?


Keep thy tongue from evil, And thy lips from speaking guile.


The foolishness of man subverteth his way; And his heart fretteth against the LORD.


Wherefore doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins?


Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. Hear now, O house of Israel: Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal?


Your words have been stout against me, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, Wherein have we spoken against thee?


If any man thinketh himself to be religious, while he bridleth not his tongue but deceiveth his heart, this man's religion is vain.
