Why is my pain perpetual, and my wound incurable, which refuseth to be healed? wilt thou indeed be unto me as a deceitful brook, as waters that fail?


For thus saith the LORD, Thy hurt is incurable, and thy wound grievous.


There is none to plead thy cause, that thou mayest be bound up: thou hast no healing medicines.


For Israel is not forsaken, nor Judah, of his God, of the LORD of hosts; though their land is full of guilt against the Holy One of Israel.


Refuse silver shall men call them, because the LORD hath rejected them.


Cut off thine hair, O Jerusalem, and cast it away, and take up a lamentation on the bare heights; for the LORD hath rejected and forsaken the generation of his wrath.


We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of healing, and behold dismay!


Is there no balm in Gilead? is there no physician there? why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered?


What shall I testify unto thee? what shall I liken to thee, O daughter of Jerusalem? what shall I equal to thee, that I may comfort thee, O virgin daughter of Zion? for thy breach is great like the sea: who can heal thee?


Thou hast called, as in the day of a solemn assembly, my terrors on every side, and there was none that escaped or remained in the day of the LORD'S anger: those that I have dandled and brought up hath mine enemy consumed.


Our eyes do yet fail in looking for our vain help; in our watching we have watched for a nation that could not save.


But thou hast utterly rejected us, thou art very wroth against us.


For the inhabitant of Maroth waiteth anxiously for good: because evil is come down from the LORD unto the gate of Jerusalem.


When they are saying, Peace and safety, then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall in no wise escape.
