They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: With flattering lip, and with a double heart, do they speak.


The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips, The tongue that speaketh great things:


I am become a stranger unto my brethren, And an alien unto my mother's children.


The morsel which thou hast eaten shalt thou vomit up, And lose thy sweet words.


When he speaketh fair, believe him not; For there are seven abominations in his heart:


For thus saith the LORD unto me, Like as when the lion growleth and the young lion over his prey, if a multitude of shepherds be called forth against him, he will not be dismayed at their voice, nor abase himself for the noise of them: so shall the LORD of hosts come down to fight upon mount Zion, and upon the hill thereof.

Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the men of Anathoth, that seek thy life, saying, Thou shalt not prophesy in the name of the LORD, that thou die not by our hand:


For I have heard the defaming of many, terror on every side. Denounce, and we will denounce him, say all my familiar friends, they that watch for my halting; peradventure he will be enticed, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him.


Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging place of wayfaring men; that I might leave my people, and go from them! for they be all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men.


And they bend their tongue as it were their bow for falsehood; and they are grown strong in the land, but not for truth: for they proceed from evil to evil, and they know not me, saith the LORD.


Take ye heed every one of his neighbour, and trust ye not in any brother: for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbour will go about with slanders.


And they will deceive every one his neighbour, and will not speak the truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies; they weary themselves to commit iniquity.


And brother shall deliver up brother to death, and the father his child: and children shall rise up against parents, and cause them to be put to death.


And they sought to lay hold on him; and they feared the multitude; for they perceived that he spake the parable against them: and they left him, and went away.


For even his brethren did not believe on him.


And the multitude rose up together against them: and the magistrates rent their garments off them, and commanded to beat them with rods.


But when Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews with one accord rose up against Paul, and brought him before the judgement-seat,
