Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie: In the balances they will go up; They are together lighter than vanity.


Whoso mocketh the poor reproacheth his Maker: And he that is glad at calamity shall not be unpunished.


Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity Than he that perverse in his lips and is a fool.


The meek also shall increase their joy in the LORD, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.

For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt surely open thine hand unto thy brother, to thy needy, and to thy poor, in thy land.


If there be with thee a poor man, one of thy brethren, within any of thy gates in thy land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother:


Beware that there be not a base thought in thine heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand; and thine eye be evil against thy poor brother, and thou give him nought; and he cry unto the LORD against thee, and it be sin unto thee.


I press on toward the goal unto the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.


for we are the circumcision, who worship by the Spirit of God, and glory in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh:


But ye are an elect race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession, that ye may shew forth the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:


I know thy tribulation, and thy poverty (but thou art rich), and the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and they are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.


He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, he lifteth up the needy from the dunghill, to make them sit with princes, and inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD'S, and he hath set the world upon them.
