Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.


Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come unto this city, nor shoot an arrow there, neither shall he come before it with shield, nor cast a mount against it.


And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will work for you today: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen today, ye shall see them again no more for ever.


Nay, but by men of strange lips and with another tongue will he speak to this people:


By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and he shall not come unto this city, saith the LORD.


So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, and went and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh.


Lo, I will bring a nation upon you from far, O house of Israel, saith the LORD: it is a mighty nation, it is an ancient nation, a nation whose language thou knowest not, neither understandest what they say.


In the law it is written, By men of strange tongues and by the lips of strangers will I speak unto this people; and not even thus will they hear me, saith the Lord.
