But the army of the Chaldeans pursued after the king, and overtook him in the plains of Jericho: and all his army was scattered from him.


Wilt thou trust him, because his strength is great? Or wilt thou leave to him thy labour?


He delighteth not in the strength of the horse: He taketh no pleasure in the legs of a man.


An horse is a vain thing for safety: Neither shall he deliver any by his great power.


Their land also is full of silver and gold, neither is there any end of their treasures; their land also is full of horses, neither is there any end of their chariots.


Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help, and stay on horses; and trust in chariots, because they are many, and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD!

Let not the swift flee away, nor the mighty man escape; in the north by the river Euphrates have they stumbled, and fallen.


Then a breach was made in the city, and all the men of war fled, and went forth out of the city by night by the way of the gate between the two walls, which was by the king's garden; (now the Chaldeans were against the city round about:) and they went by the way of the Arabah.

The LORD shall bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth, as the eagle flieth; a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand;
