Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: They shall not be ashamed, When they speak with their enemies in the gate.


To have respect of persons is not good: Neither that a man should transgress for a piece of bread.


Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and to the writers that write perverseness:


The instruments also of the churl are evil: he deviseth wicked devices to destroy the meek with lying words, even when the needy speaketh right.


Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!


which justify the wicked for a reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!


Yea, truth is lacking; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey: and the LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgement.


Then said they, Come, and let us devise devices against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let us smite him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words.


And concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah thou shalt say, Thus saith the LORD: Thou hast burned this roll, saying, Why hast thou written therein, saying, The king of Babylon shall certainly come and destroy this land, and shall cause to cease from thence man and beast?


And ye have profaned me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, to slay the souls that should not die, and to save the souls alive that should not live, by your lying to my people that hearken unto lies.


And I will come near to you to judgement; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers; and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith the LORD of hosts.


Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might ensnare him in his talk.


and said, What are ye willing to give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they weighed unto him thirty pieces of silver.


But ye denied the Holy and Righteous One, and asked for a murderer to be granted unto you,


Ye have condemned, ye have killed the righteous one; he doth not resist you.


then said they unto him, Say now Shibboleth; and he said Sibboleth; for he could not frame to pronounce it right; then they laid hold on him, and slew him at the fords of Jordan: and there fell at that time of Ephraim forty and two thousand.
