Thus saith the LORD: For three transgressions of Gaza, yea, for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they carried away captive the whole people, to deliver them up to Edom:


Egypt shall be a desolation, and Edom shall be a desolate wilderness, for the violence done to the children of Judah, because they have shed innocent blood in their land.


Then Zedekiah the king sent, and fetched him: and the king asked him secretly in his house, and said, Is there any word from the LORD? And Jeremiah said, There is. He said also, Thou shalt be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon.


For thus hath the Lord said unto me, Go, set a watchman; let him declare what he seeth:


Remember, O LORD, against the children of Edom The day of Jerusalem; Who said, Rase it, rase it, Even to the foundation thereof.

contend not with them; for I will not give you of their land, no, not so much as for the sole of the foot to tread on: because I have given mount Seir unto Esau for a possession.


And Edom shall be a possession, Seir also shall be a possession, which were his enemies; While Israel doeth valiantly.


And Jacob sent messengers before him to Esau his brother unto the land of Seir, the field of Edom.


The watchmen that go about the city found me: To whom I said, Saw ye him whom my soul loveth?


The watchman said, The morning cometh, and also the night: if ye will inquire, inquire ye: turn ye, come.


And I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet; but they said, We will not hearken.


And he commanded them, saying, Thus shall ye say unto my lord Esau; Thus saith thy servant Jacob, I have sojourned with Laban, and stayed until now:


Thus saith the Lord GOD Because that Edom hath dealt against the house of Judah by taking vengeance, and hath greatly offended, and revenged himself upon them;


So thou, son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.
