And the afflicted people thou wilt save: but thine eyes are upon the haughty, that thou mayest bring them down.


Why are times not laid up by the Almighty? And why do not they which know him see his days?


LORD, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty; Neither do I exercise myself in great matters, Or in things too wonderful for me.


For thou wilt light my lamp: The LORD my God will lighten my darkness.


The Lord shall laugh at him: For he seeth that his day is coming.


Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth: Render to the proud their desert.


Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: Though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.


Wherefore it shall come to pass, that when the Lord hath performed his whole work upon mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks.


Behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, shall lop the boughs with terror: and the high ones of stature shall be hewn down, and the lofty shall be brought low.


And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.


Howl ye; for the day of the LORD is at hand; as destruction from the Almighty shall it come.


Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel, with wrath and fierce anger; to make the land a desolation, and to destroy the sinners thereof out of it.


Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the uttermost parts of the pit.


The LORD of hosts hath purposed it, to stain the pride of all glory, to bring into contempt all the honourable of the earth.


And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall punish the host of the high ones on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth.


The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world languisheth and fadeth away, the lofty people of the earth do languish.


that bringeth princes to nothing; he maketh the judges of the earth as vanity.


I will make waste mountains and hills, and dry up all their herbs; and I will make the rivers islands, and will dry up the pools.


And the mean man is bowed down, and the great man is humbled, and the eyes of the lofty are humbled:


to proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;


Is mine heritage unto me as a speckled bird of prey? are the birds of prey against her round about? go ye, assemble all the beasts of the field, bring them to devour.


Thus saith the LORD, After this manner will I mar the pride of Judah, and the great pride of Jerusalem.


Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.


For that day is a day of the Lord, the LORD of hosts, a day of vengeance, that he may avenge him of his adversaries: and the sword shall devour and be satiate, and shall drink its fill of their blood: for the Lord, the LORD of hosts, hath a sacrifice in the north country by the river Euphrates.


Behold, I am against thee, O thou proud one, saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts: for thy day is come, the time that I will visit thee.


Ye have not gone up into the gaps, neither made up the fence for the house of Israel, to stand in the battle in the day of the LORD.


Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven; for all his works are truth, and his ways judgement: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.


Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! wherefore would ye have the day of the LORD? it is darkness, and not light.

In that day shalt thou not be ashamed for all thy doings, wherein thou hast transgressed against me: for then I will take away out of the midst of thee thy proudly exulting ones, and thou shalt no more be haughty in my holy mountain.


For, behold, the day cometh, it burneth as a furnace; and all the proud, and all that work wickedness, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.


Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and terrible day of the LORD come.


And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be humbled; and whosoever shall humble himself shall be exalted.


For every one that exalteth himself shall be humbled; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.


to deliver such a one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.


For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.


But he giveth more grace. Wherefore the scripture saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace to the humble.
