A fruitful land into a salt desert, For the wickedness of them that dwell therein.


There is that scattereth, and increaseth yet more; And there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth only to want.


For ten acres of vineyard shall yield one bath, and a homer of seed shall yield but an ephah.


They have sown wheat, and have reaped thorns; they have put themselves to pain, and profit nothing: and ye shall be ashamed of your fruits, because of the fierce anger of the LORD.


Because of the ground which is chapt, for that no rain hath been in the land, the plowmen are ashamed, they cover their heads.


But since we left off to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine.


And they shall eat, and not have enough; they shall commit whoredom, and shall not increase: because they have left off to take heed to the LORD.


For they sow the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: he hath no standing corn; the blade shall yield no meal; if so be it yield, strangers shall swallow it up.


and your strength shall be spent in vain: for your land shall not yield her increase, neither shall the trees of the land yield their fruit.


When I break your staff of bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall deliver your bread again by weight: and ye shall eat, and not be satisfied.


Therefore for your sake the heaven is stayed from dew, and the earth is stayed from her fruit.


Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts: Consider your ways,

Ye looked for much, and, lo, it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the LORD of hosts. Because of mine house that lieth waste, while ye run every man to his own house.


Through all that time, when one came to an heap of twenty measures, there were but ten; when one came to the winefat for to draw out fifty vessels, there were but twenty.


I smote you with blasting and with mildew and with hail in all the work of your hands; yet ye turned not to me, saith the LORD.


I will cause it to go forth, saith the LORD of hosts, and it shall enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him that sweareth falsely by my name: and it shall abide in the midst of his house, and shall consume it with the timber thereof and the stones thereof.


For before those days there was no hire for man, nor any hire for beast; neither was there any peace to him that went out or came in because of the adversary: for I set all men every one against his neighbour.


If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the LORD of hosts, then will I send the curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart.


Cursed shall be thy basket and thy kneadingtrough.
