And the LORD said unto Jacob, Return unto the land of thy fathers, and to thy kindred; and I will be with thee.


Except the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the Fear of Isaac, had been with me, surely now hadst thou sent me away empty. God hath seen mine affliction and the labour of my hands, and rebuked thee yesternight.


And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.


Then Jacob was greatly afraid and was distressed: and he divided the people that was with him, and the flocks, and the herds, and the camels, into two companies;


And they gave unto Jacob all the strange gods which were in their hand, and the rings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the oak which was by Shechem.


And he built there an altar, and called the place El-beth-el: because there God was revealed unto him, when he fled from the face of his brother.


And he blessed Joseph, and said, The God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac did walk, the God which hath fed me all my life long unto this day,


Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, And he delivered them out of their distresses.


Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, And for his wonderful works to the children of men!


God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.


And call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.


He shall call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble: I will deliver him, and honour him.


In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he shall direct thy paths.


For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem: thou shalt weep no more; he will surely be gracious unto thee at the voice of thy cry; when he shall hear, he will answer thee.


When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.


Then shalt thou go on forward from thence, and thou shalt come to the oak of Tabor, and there shall meet thee there three men going up to God to Beth-el, one carrying three kids, and another carrying three loaves of bread, and another carrying a bottle of wine:
