And Jacob sent messengers before him to Esau his brother unto the land of Seir, the field of Edom.


And he commanded them, saying, Thus shall ye say unto my lord Esau; Thus saith thy servant Jacob, I have sojourned with Laban, and stayed until now:


And he said unto him, My lord knoweth that the children are tender, and that the flocks and herds with me give suck: and if they overdrive them one day, all the flocks will die.


And now, behold, the children of Ammon and Moab and mount Seir, whom thou wouldest not let Israel invade, when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned aside from them, and destroyed them not;


He shall feed his flock like a shepherd, he shall gather the lambs in his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that give suck.


Thus saith the Lord GOD Because that Moab and Seir do say, Behold, the house of Judah is like unto all the nations;


And with many such parables spake he the word unto them, as they were able to hear it:


Now we that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.


I fed you with milk, not with meat; for ye were not yet able to bear it: nay, not even now are ye able;


Then we turned, and took our journey into the wilderness by the way to the Red Sea, as the LORD spake unto me: and we compassed mount Seir many days.


LORD, when thou wentest forth out of Seir, when thou marchedst out of the field of Edom, the earth trembled, the heavens also dropped, yea, the clouds dropped water.
