And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to tell them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.


and he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood over against him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself to the earth,


that in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;


two hundred she-goats and twenty he-goats, two hundred ewes and twenty rams,


And Jacob said, Nay, I pray thee, if now I have found grace in thy sight, then receive my present at my hand: forasmuch as I have seen thy face, as one seeth the face of God, and thou wast pleased with me.


And he said, What meanest thou by all this company which I met? And he said, To find grace in the sight of my lord.


And Joseph was the governor over the land; he it was that sold to all the people of the land: and Joseph's brethren came, and bowed down themselves to him with their faces to the earth.


And their father Israel said unto them, If it be so now, do this; take of the choice fruits of the land in your vessels, and carry down the man a present, a little balm, and a little honey, spicery and myrrh, nuts, and almonds:


And when Joseph came home, they brought him the present which was in their hand into the house, and bowed down themselves to him to the earth.


Therefore set I in the lowest parts of the space behind the wall, In the open places, I even set the people after their families with their swords, their spears, and their bows.


A gift is as a precious stone in the eyes of him that hath it: Whithersoever it turneth, it prospereth.


A man's gift maketh room for him, And bringeth him before great men.


Many will entreat the favour of the liberal man: And every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts.


A gift in secret pacifieth anger, And a present in the bosom strong wrath.


And now this present which thy servant hath brought unto my lord, let it be given unto the young men that follow my lord.


Ask thy young men, and they will tell thee: wherefore let the young men find favour in thine eyes; for we come in a good day: give, I pray thee, whatsoever cometh to thine hand, unto thy servants, and to thy son David.
