After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.


And the thing was very grievous in Abraham's sight on account of his son.


And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.


And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold, the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?


And Israel said unto Joseph, Do not thy brethren feed the flock in Shechem? come, and I will send thee unto them. And he said to him, Here am I.


And God spake unto Israel in the visions of the night, and said, Jacob, Jacob. And he said, Here am I.

Howbeit in the business of the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, who sent unto him to inquire of the wonder that was done in the land, God left him, to try him, that he might know all that was in his heart.


The LORD trieth the righteous: But the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.


Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a day's portion every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no.


And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.


The fining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold: But the LORD trieth the hearts.


And I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then I said, Here am I; send me.


There hath no temptation taken you but such as man can bear: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation make also the way of escape, that ye may be able to endure it.


thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or unto that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.


who fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not; that he might humble thee, and that he might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end:


And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God hath led thee these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble thee, to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.


By faith Abraham, being tried, offered up Isaac: yea, he that had gladly received the promises was offering up his only begotten son;


Was not Abraham our father justified by works, in that he offered up Isaac his son upon the altar?


that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold that perisheth though it is proved by fire, might be found unto praise and glory and honour at the revelation of Jesus Christ:


that by them I may prove Israel, whether they will keep the way of the LORD to walk therein, as their fathers did keep it, or not.
