These are the sons of Ham, after their families, after their tongues, in their lands, in their nations.

And they knew not that Joseph understood them; for there was an interpreter between them.


He removeth the speech of the trusty, And taketh away the understanding of the elders.


He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: The Lord shall have them in derision.


The LORD bringeth the counsel of the nations to nought: He maketh the thoughts of the peoples to be of none effect.


Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongue: For I have seen violence and strife in the city.


And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh a man dumb, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? is it not I the LORD?


Thou shalt not see the fierce people, a people of a deep speech that thou canst not perceive; of a strange tongue that thou canst not understand.


And I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then I said, Here am I; send me.


Lo, I will bring a nation upon you from far, O house of Israel, saith the LORD: it is a mighty nation, it is an ancient nation, a nation whose language thou knowest not, neither understandest what they say.


If therefore the whole church be assembled together, and all speak with tongues, and there come in men unlearned or unbelieving, will they not say that ye are mad?


The LORD shall bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth, as the eagle flieth; a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand;
