Then I consulted with myself, and contended with the nobles and the rulers, and said unto them, Ye exact usury, every one of his brother. And I held a great assembly against them.


For calamity from God was a terror to me, And by reason of his excellency I could do nothing


For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of deceit have they opened against me: They have spoken unto me with a lying tongue.


Let his children be fatherless, And his wife a widow.


He that putteth not out his money to usury, Nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be moved.


Pour out thine indignation upon them, And let the fierceness of thine anger overtake them.


Thou, even thou, art to be feared: And who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?


Who knoweth the power of thine anger, And thy wrath according to the fear that is due unto thee?


Their widows are increased to me above the sand of the seas: I have brought upon them against the mother of the young men a spoiler at noonday: I have caused anguish and terrors to fall upon her suddenly.


Therefore deliver up their children to the famine, and give them over to the power of the sword; and let their wives become childless, and widows; and let their men be slain of death, and their young men smitten of the sword in battle.


We are orphans and fatherless, our mothers are as widows.


And if thy brother be waxen poor, and his hand fail with thee; then thou shalt uphold him: as a stranger and a sojourner shall he live with thee.


Take thou no usury of him or increase; but fear thy God: that thy brother may live with thee.


Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? his fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are broken asunder by him.


give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, shall they give into your bosom. For with what measure ye mete it shall be measured to you again.


unto a foreigner thou mayest lend upon usury; but unto thy brother thou shalt not lend upon usury: that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all that thou puttest thine hand unto, in the land whither thou goest in to possess it.


When thou shalt vow a vow unto the LORD thy God, thou shalt not be slack to pay it: for the LORD thy God will surely require it of thee; and it would be sin in thee.


It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
