As yet exaltest thou thyself against my people, that thou wilt not let them go?


How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? And scorners delight them in scorning, And fools hate knowledge?


Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;


Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, And before honour goeth humility.


Why will ye be still stricken, that ye revolt more and more? the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.


The lofty looks of man shall be brought low, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.


This evil people, which refuse to hear my words, which walk in the stubbornness of their heart, and are gone after other gods to serve them, and to worship them, shall even be as this girdle, which is profitable for nothing.


Say thou unto the king and to the queen-mother, Humble yourselves, sit down: for your headtires are come down, even the crown of your glory.


Call together the archers against Babylon, all them that bend the bow; camp against her round about; let none thereof escape: recompense her according to her work; according to all that she hath done, do unto her: for she hath been proud against the LORD, against the Holy One of Israel.


And she hath rebelled against my judgements in doing wickedness more than the nations, and against my statutes more than the countries that are round about her: for they have rejected my judgements, and as for my statutes, they have not walked in them.


And thou his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thine heart, though thou knewest all this;


How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, which murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against me.


Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?


See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not, when they refused him that warned them on earth, much more shall not we escape, who turn away from him that warneth from heaven:


Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall exalt you.


Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time;
