And the LORD said, My spirit shall not strive with man for ever, for that he also is flesh: yet shall his days be an hundred and twenty years.


And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.


How oft did they rebel against him in the wilderness, And grieve him in the desert!


Forty years long was I grieved with that generation, And said, It is a people that do err in their heart, And they have not known my ways:


Thou hast bought me no sweet cane with money, neither hast thou filled me with the fat of thy sacrifices: but thou hast made me to serve with thy sins, thou hast wearied me with thine iniquities.


But they rebelled, and grieved his holy spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and himself fought against them.


And he said, Hear ye now, O house of David; is it a small thing for you to weary men, that ye will weary my God also?


Because thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, but hast fretted me in all these things; therefore behold, I also will bring thy way upon thine head, saith the Lord GOD and thou shalt not commit this lewdness above all thine abominations.


I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, where are thy plagues? O grave, where is thy destruction? repentance shall be hid from mine eyes.


And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved at the hardening of their heart, he saith unto the man, Stretch forth thy hand. And he stretched it forth: and his hand was restored.


But when these things begin to come to pass, look up, and lift up your heads; because your redemption draweth nigh.


He that hath received his witness hath set his seal to this, that God is true.


Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.


But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwelleth in you, he that raised up Christ Jesus from the dead shall quicken also your mortal bodies through his Spirit that dwelleth in you.


And not only so, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for our adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.


But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who was made unto us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption:


But when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.


of how much sorer punishment, think ye, shall he be judged worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?


Wherefore I was displeased with this generation, And said, They do alway err in their heart: But they did not know my ways;


And with whom was he displeased forty years? was it not with them that sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?


And they put away the strange gods from among them, and served the LORD: and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.
