Upon the wicked he shall rain snares; Fire and brimstone and burning wind shall be the portion of their cup.


For their calamity shall rise suddenly; And who knoweth the destruction of them both?


In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare: But the righteous doth sing and rejoice.


Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; On a sudden shall he be broken and that without remedy.


For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; and man hath no preeminence above the beasts: for all is vanity.


Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.


There is no man that hath power over the spirit to retain the spirit; neither hath he power over the day of death; and there is no discharge in that war: neither shall wickedness deliver him that is given to it.


I have also seen wisdom under the sun on this wise, and it seemed great unto me:


And it shall come to pass, that he who fleeth from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that cometh up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for the windows on high are opened, and the foundations of the earth do shake.


therefore this iniquity shall be to you as a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a high wall, whose breaking cometh suddenly at an instant.


Thus saith the Lord GOD I will spread out my net over thee with a company of many peoples; and they shall bring thee up in my net.


When they shall go, I will spread my net upon them; I will bring them down as the fowls of the heaven: I will chastise them, as their congregation hath heard.


Ephraim was a watchman with my God: as for the prophet, a fowler's snare is in all his ways, and enmity in the house of his God.


But God said unto him, Thou foolish one, this night is thy soul required of thee; and the things which thou hast prepared, whose shall they be?


But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what hour the thief was coming, he would have watched, and not have left his house to be broken through.


(for he saith, At an acceptable time I hearkened unto thee, And in a day of salvation did I succour thee: behold, now is the acceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation):


When they are saying, Peace and safety, then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall in no wise escape.


and they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by the Lord's servant unto the will of God.


having your behaviour seemly among the Gentiles; that, wherein they speak against you as evil-doers, they may by your good works, which they behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.


But these, as creatures without reason, born mere animals to be taken and destroyed, railing in matters whereof they are ignorant, shall in their destroying surely be destroyed,
