Your country is desolate; your cities are burned with fire; your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.


The LORD hath sworn by his right hand, and by the arm of his strength, Surely I will no more give thy corn to be meat for thine enemies; and strangers shall not drink thy wine, for the which thou hast laboured:


Thy substance and thy treasures will I give for a spoil without price, and that for all thy sins, even in all thy borders.


O my mountain in the field, I will give thy substance and all thy treasures for a spoil, and thy high places, because of sin, throughout all thy borders.


They that be slain with the sword are better than they that be slain with hunger; for these pine away, stricken through, for want of the fruits of the field.


and say unto the people of the land, Thus saith the Lord GODconcerning the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the land of Israel: They shall eat their bread with carefulness, and drink their water with astonishment, that her land may be desolate from all that is therein, because of the violence of all them that dwell therein.
