And he humbled not himself before the LORD, as Manasseh his father had humbled himself; but this same Amon trespassed more and more.


because thine heart was tender, and thou didst humble thyself before God, when thou heardest his words against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, and hast humbled thyself before me, and hast rent thy clothes, and wept before me; I also have heard thee, saith the LORD.


I have not turned aside from thy judgements; For thou hast taught me.


If thy children will keep my covenant And my testimony that I shall teach them, Their children also shall sit upon thy throne for evermore.


Moreover by them is thy servant warned: In keeping of them there is great reward.


The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: But the years of the wicked shall be shortened.


For riches are not for ever; And doth the crown endure unto all generations?


but it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days, which are as a shadow; because he feareth not before God.


For there shall be a day of the LORD of hosts upon all that is proud and haughty, and upon all that is lifted up; and it shall be brought low:


Behold, his soul is puffed up, it is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.


And by reason of the exceeding greatness of the Revelation--wherefore, that I should not be exalted overmuch, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, that I should not be exalted overmuch.


Thou shalt not eat it; that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, when thou shalt do that which is right in the eyes of the LORD.


Observe and hear all these words which I command thee, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee for ever, when thou doest that which is good and right in the eyes of the LORD thy God.


What thing soever I command you, that shall ye observe to do: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.


according to the tenor of the law which they shall teach thee, and according to the judgement which they shall tell thee, thou shalt do: thou shalt not turn aside from the sentence which they shall shew thee, to the right hand, nor to the left.


Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.


Ye shall observe to do therefore as the LORD your God hath commanded you: ye shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.


And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God hath led thee these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble thee, to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.


Likewise, ye younger, be subject unto the elder. Yea, all of you gird yourselves with humility, to serve one another: for God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace to the humble.


Then Samuel told the people the manner of the kingdom, and wrote it in a book, and laid it up before the LORD. And Samuel sent all the people away, every man to his house.


For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as idolatry and teraphim. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.
