And David spake to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brethren the singers, with instruments of music, psalteries and harps and cymbals, sounding aloud and lifting up the voice with joy.


and four thousand were doorkeepers; and four thousand praised the LORD with the instruments which I made, said David, to praise therewith.


And the Levites stood with the instruments of David, and the priests with the trumpets.


I gathered me also silver and gold, and the peculiar treasure of kings and of the provinces: I gat me men singers and women singers, and the delights of the sons of men, concubines very many.


And the harp and the lute, the tabret and the pipe, and wine, are in their feasts: but they regard not the work of the LORD, neither have they considered the operation of his hands.


And I will cause the noise of thy songs to cease; and the sound of thy harps shall be no more heard.


Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy viols.


And the songs of the temple shall be howlings in that day, saith the Lord GOD the dead bodies shall be many; in every place shall they cast them forth with silence.


For the time past may suffice to have wrought the desire of the Gentiles, and to have walked in lasciviousness, lusts, winebibbings, revellings, carousings, and abominable idolatries:


And the voice of harpers and minstrels and flute-players and trumpeters shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft, shall be found any more at all in thee; and the voice of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee;
