come now therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people; for they are too mighty for me: peradventure I shall prevail, that we may smite them, and that I may drive them out of the land: for I know that he whom thou blessest is blessed, and he whom thou cursest is cursed.


And Pilate called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,


And Jesus said, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And parting his garments among them, they cast lots.


But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.


And these things will they do, because they have not known the Father, nor me.


They answered and said unto him, Art thou also of Galilee? Search, and see that out of Galilee ariseth no prophet.


For they that dwell in Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath, fulfilled them by condemning him.


As also the high priest doth bear me witness, and all the estate of the elders: from whom also I received letters unto the brethren, and journeyed to Damascus, to bring them also which were there unto Jerusalem in bonds, for to be punished.


I verily thought with myself, that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth.


And they said unto him, We neither received letters from Judaea concerning thee, nor did any of the brethren come hither and report or speak any harm of thee.


saying unto Aaron, Make us gods which shall go before us: for as for this Moses, which led us forth out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.


God did not cast off his people which he foreknew. Or wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elijah? how he pleadeth with God against Israel,


which none of the rulers of this world knoweth: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory:


but their minds were hardened: for until this very day at the reading of the old covenant the same veil remaineth unlifted; which veil is done away in Christ.


being darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardening of their heart;


But if to live in the flesh,-- if this is the fruit of my work, then what I shall choose I wot not.


though I was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: howbeit I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief;
