For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that through patience and through comfort of the scriptures we might have hope.


For the word of God is living, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and quick to discern the thoughts and intents of the heart.


Jesus said unto them, Is it not for this cause that ye err, that ye know not the scriptures, nor the power of God?


Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed thereto according to thy word.

in meekness correcting them that oppose themselves; if peradventure God may give them repentance unto the knowledge of the truth,


Out of heaven he made thee to hear his voice, that he might instruct thee: and upon earth he made thee to see his great fire; and thou heardest his words out of the midst of the fire.


how that I shrank not from declaring unto you anything that was profitable, and teaching you publicly, and from house to house,


For every one that doeth ill hateth the light, and cometh not to the light, lest his works should be reproved.


And he said unto them, Therefore every scribe who hath been made a disciple to the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is a householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.


This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he spake and taught carefully the things concerning Jesus, knowing only the baptism of John:


a corrector of the foolish, a teacher of babes, having in the law the form of knowledge and of the truth;


Thou gavest also thy good spirit to instruct them, and withheldest not thy manna from their mouth, and gavest them water for their thirst.


And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all the nations be blessed.


Wherefore, even as the Holy Ghost saith, Today if ye shall hear his voice,


But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit to profit withal.


For I shrank not from declaring unto you the whole counsel of God.


There is grievous correction for him that forsaketh the way: And he that hateth reproof shall die.


If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came (and the scripture cannot be broken),


But all this is come to pass, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples left him, and fled.


Brethren, it was needful that the scripture should be fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost spake before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who was guide to them that took Jesus.


Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, The same was made the head of the corner: This was from the Lord, And it is marvelous in our eyes?


Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was reckoned unto him;


Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the proving of things not seen.


Much every way: first of all, that they were intrusted with the oracles of God.


And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Isaiah the prophet unto your fathers,


David himself said in the Holy Spirit, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, Till I make thine enemies the footstool of thy feet.


Shall it be said, O house of Jacob, Is the spirit of the LORD straitened? are these his doings? Do not my words do good to him that walketh uprightly?


How then should the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?


He saith unto them, How then doth David in the Spirit call him Lord, saying,


The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but the things that are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.


She obeyed not the voice; she received not correction; she trusted not in the LORD; she drew not near to her God.
