And it came to pass at that time, that Judah went down from his brethren, and turned in to a certain Adullamite, whose name was Hirah.

And he said unto him, Why, O son of the king, art thou thus lean from day to day? wilt thou not tell me? And Amnon said unto him, I love Tamar, my brother Absalom's sister.


And Joab sent to Tekoa, and fetched thence a wise woman, and said unto her, I pray thee, feign thyself to be a mourner, and put on mourning apparel, I pray thee, and anoint not thyself with oil, but be as a woman that had a long time mourned for the dead:


And when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimei David's brother slew him.


and Jesse begat his firstborn Eliab, and Abinadab the second, and Shimea the third;


Also Jonathan David's uncle was a counsellor, a man of understanding, and a scribe: and Jehiel the son of Hachmoni was with the king's sons:


Nevertheless Haman refrained himself, and went home; and he sent and fetched his friends and Zeresh his wife.


Then said Zeresh his wife and all his friends unto him, Let a gallows be made of fifty cubits high, and in the morning speak thou unto the king that Mordecai may be hanged thereon: then go thou in merrily with the king unto the banquet. And the thing pleased Haman; and he caused the gallows to be made.


And Haman recounted unto Zeresh his wife and all his friends every thing that had befallen him. Then said his wise men and Zeresh his wife unto him, If Mordecai, before whom thou hast begun to fall, be of the seed of the Jews, thou shalt not prevail against him, but shalt surely fall before him.


Many will entreat the favour of the liberal man: And every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts.


For my people is foolish, they know me not; they are sottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.


For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He that taketh the wise in their craftiness:


This wisdom is not a wisdom that cometh down from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.


But Samson's wife was given to his companion, whom he had used as his friend.
