Many a time have they afflicted me from my youth up: Yet they have not prevailed against me.


The LORD will not leave him in his hand, Nor condemn him when he is judged.


In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: And his children shall have a place of refuge.


The name of the LORD is a strong tower: The righteous runneth into it, and is safe.


but they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint.


For though the fig tree shall not blossom, Neither shall fruit be in the vines; The labour of the olive shall fail, And the fields shall yield no meat; The flock shall be cut off from the fold, And there shall be no herd in the stalls:


I will not leave you desolate: I come unto you.


There hath no temptation taken you but such as man can bear: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation make also the way of escape, that ye may be able to endure it.


Wherefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in injuries, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.


Ye are not straitened in us, but ye are straitened in your own affections.

For even when we were come into Macedonia, our flesh had no relief, but we were afflicted on every side; without were fightings, within were fears.


yea, I could wish to be present with you now, and to change my voice; for I am perplexed about you.


And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do.


And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David strengthened himself in the LORD his God.


Then said Saul to his armourbearer, Draw thy sword, and thrust me through therewith; lest these uncircumcised come and thrust me through, and abuse me. But his armourbearer would not; for he was sore afraid. Therefore Saul took his sword, and fell upon it.
