“Come down from your glory, and sit on the parched ground, O inhabitant of Dibon! For the destroyer of Moab has come up against you; he has destroyed your strongholds.


“Judgment has come upon the tableland, upon Holon, and Jahzah, and Mepha-ath,


and Kiriathaim, and Beth-gamul, and Beth-meon,


The destroyer shall come upon every city, and no city shall escape; the valley shall perish, and the plain shall be destroyed, as the Lord has spoken.


therefore I will lay open the flank of Moab from the cities on its frontier, the glory of the country, Beth-jeshimoth, Baal-meon, and Kiriathaim.


and from Mattanah to Nahaliel, and from Nahaliel to Bamoth,


For Heshbon was the city of Sihon the king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab and taken all his land out of his hand, as far as the Arnon.


So their posterity perished from Heshbon, as far as Dibon, and we laid waste until fire spread to Medeba.”


And on the morrow Balak took Balaam and brought him up to Bamoth-baal; and from there he saw the nearest of the people.


Nebo, and Baal-meon (their names to be changed), and Sibmah; and they gave other names to the cities which they built.


So their territory was from Aroer, which is on the edge of the valley of the Arnon, and the city that is in the middle of the valley, and all the tableland by Medeba;


and Jahaz, and Kedemoth, and Mepha-ath,


For Moses had given an inheritance to the two and one-half tribes beyond the Jordan; but to the Levites he gave no inheritance among them.


The Levites have no portion among you, for the priesthood of the Lord is their heritage; and Gad and Reuben and half the tribe of Manasseh have received their inheritance beyond the Jordan eastward, which Moses the servant of the Lord gave them.”


While Israel dwelt in Heshbon and its villages, and in Aroer and its villages, and in all the cities that are on the banks of the Arnon, three hundred years, why did you not recover them within that time?
