6 And the Lord said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid of them, for tomorrow at this time I will give over all of them, slain, to Israel; you shall hamstring their horses, and burn their chariots with fire.”

The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah


He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; he breaks the bow, and shatters the spear, he burns the chariots with fire!


A righteous man who walks in his integrity— blessed are his sons after him!


but you said, “No! We will speed upon horses,” therefore you shall speed away; and, “We will ride upon swift steeds,” therefore your pursuers shall be swift.


Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help and rely on horses, who trust in chariots because they are many and in horsemen because they are very strong, but do not look to the Holy One of Israel or consult the Lord!


“Then those who dwell in the cities of Israel will go forth and make fires of the weapons and burn them, shields and bucklers, bows and arrows, handpikes and spears, and they will make fires of them for seven years;


Assyria shall not save us, we will not ride upon horses; and we will say no more, ‘Our God,’ to the work of our hands. In thee the orphan finds mercy.”


Behold, I am against you, says the Lord of hosts, and I will burn your chariots in smoke, and the sword shall devour your young lions; I will cut off your prey from the earth, and the voice of your messengers shall no more be heard.


And you shall destroy all the peoples that the Lord your God will give over to you, your eye shall not pity them; neither shall you serve their gods, for that would be a snare to you.


And the Lord said to Joshua, “Do not fear them, for I have given them into your hands; there shall not a man of them stand before you.”


And all these kings joined their forces, and came and encamped together at the waters of Merom, to fight with Israel.


So Joshua came suddenly upon them with all his people of war, by the waters of Merom, and fell upon them.


And Joshua did to them as the Lord bade him; he hamstrung their horses, and burned their chariots with fire.


And Joshua said to the people, “Sanctify yourselves; for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.”


and Phinehas the son of Eleazar, son of Aaron, ministered before it in those days), saying, “Shall we yet again go out to battle against our brethren the Benjaminites, or shall we cease?” And the Lord said, “Go up; for tomorrow I will give them into your hand.”


That same night the Lord said to him, “Arise, go down against the camp; for I have given it into your hand.


And they said to the messengers who had come, “Thus shall you say to the men of Jabesh-gilead: ‘Tomorrow, by the time the sun is hot, you shall have deliverance.’ ” When the messengers came and told the men of Jabesh, they were glad.
