When the Lord saw that Leah was hated, he opened her womb; but Rachel was barren.

He gives the barren woman a home, making her the joyous mother of children. Praise the Lord!

and may your house be like the house of Perez, whom Tamar bore to Judah, because of the children that the Lord will give you by this young woman.”


For this child I prayed; and the Lord has granted me my petition which I made to him.


Those who were full have hired themselves out for bread, but those who were hungry have ceased to hunger. The barren has borne seven, but she who has many children is forlorn.
