Thou didst with thy arm redeem thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah


that the next generation might know them, the children yet unborn, and arise and tell them to their children,


And Moses said, “Thus says the Lord: About midnight I will go forth in the midst of Egypt;


For I will pass through the land of Egypt that night, and I will smite all the first-born in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and on all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments: I am the Lord.


you shall say, ‘It is the sacrifice of the Lord's passover, for he passed over the houses of the people of Israel in Egypt, when he slew the Egyptians but spared our houses.’ ” And the people bowed their heads and worshiped.


At midnight the Lord smote all the first-born in the land of Egypt, from the first-born of Pharaoh who sat on his throne to the first-born of the captive who was in the dungeon, and all the first-born of the cattle.


Nay, but by men of strange lips and with an alien tongue the Lord will speak to this people,


Behold, I am bringing upon you a nation from afar, O house of Israel, says the Lord. It is an enduring nation, it is an ancient nation, a nation whose language you do not know, nor can you understand what they say.


and hallow my sabbaths that they may be a sign between me and you, that you may know that I the Lord am your God.


who drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the finest oils, but are not grieved over the ruin of Joseph!


The Lord will bring a nation against you from afar, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flies, a nation whose language you do not understand,


these are the testimonies, the statutes, and the ordinances, which Moses spoke to the children of Israel when they came out of Egypt,
