And he said, “Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked shall I return; the Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.”


He goes to bed rich, but will do so no more; he opens his eyes, and his wealth is gone.


from men by thy hand, O Lord, from men whose portion in life is of the world. May their belly be filled with what thou hast stored up for them; may their children have more than enough; may they leave something over to their babes.


As he came from his mother's womb he shall go again, naked as he came, and shall take nothing for his toil, which he may carry away in his hand.


What will you do on the day of punishment, in the storm which will come from afar? To whom will you flee for help, and where will you leave your wealth?


Therefore Sheol has enlarged its appetite and opened its mouth beyond measure, and the nobility of Jerusalem and her multitude go down, her throng and he who exults in her.


But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul is required of you; and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’


And he called out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy upon me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am in anguish in this flame.’


It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power.


for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world;
