Keep steady my steps according to thy promise, and let no iniquity get dominion over me.


My eyes are awake before the watches of the night, that I may meditate upon thy promise.


I rejoice at thy word like one who finds great spoil.

It is good for me that I was afflicted, that I might learn thy statutes.


I am thine, save me; for I have sought thy precepts.


He who is estranged seeks pretexts to break out against all sound judgment.


When you walk, your step will not be hampered; and if you run, you will not stumble.


And I applied my mind to seek and to search out by wisdom all that is done under heaven; it is an unhappy business that God has given to the sons of men to be busy with.


“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed,


You search the scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness to me;


Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.


But he who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer that forgets but a doer that acts, he shall be blessed in his doing.


So speak and so act as those who are to be judged under the law of liberty.


They promise them freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption; for whatever overcomes a man, to that he is enslaved.
