When Timothy comes, see that you put him at ease among you, for he is doing the work of the Lord, as I am.


Therefore I sent to you Timothy, my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, to remind you of my ways in Christ, as I teach them everywhere in every church.


For this is why I wrote, that I might test you and know whether you are obedient in everything.


And with them we are sending our brother whom we have often tested and found earnest in many matters, but who is now more earnest than ever because of his great confidence in you.


So give proof, before the churches, of your love and of our boasting about you to these men.


I say this not as a command, but to prove by the earnestness of others that your love also is genuine.


I want you to know, brethren, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel,


The latter do it out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel;


thankful for your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.


It is right for me to feel thus about you all, because I hold you in my heart, for you are all partakers with me of grace, both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel.


I have no one like him, who will be genuinely anxious for your welfare.


This charge I commit to you, Timothy, my son, in accordance with the prophetic utterances which pointed to you, that inspired by them you may wage the good warfare,


To Timothy, my true child in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.


If you put these instructions before the brethren, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished on the words of the faith and of the good doctrine which you have followed.


To Timothy, my beloved child: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.


Now you have observed my teaching, my conduct, my aim in life, my faith, my patience, my love, my steadfastness,


To Titus, my true child in a common faith: Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior.
