After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, “Fear not, Abram, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great.”


As the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell on Abram; and lo, a dread and great darkness fell upon him.


And he said, “I saw all Israel scattered upon the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd; and the Lord said, ‘These have no master; let each return to his home in peace.’ ”


Of old thou didst speak in a vision to thy faithful one, and say: “I have set the crown upon one who is mighty, I have exalted one chosen from the people.


Like the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud on the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. Such was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard the voice of one speaking.


And he said, “Hear my words: If there is a prophet among you, I the Lord make myself known to him in a vision, I speak with him in a dream.

Then the Lord opened the eyes of Balaam, and he saw the angel of the Lord standing in the way, with his drawn sword in his hand; and he bowed his head, and fell on his face.


And he took up his discourse, and said, “The oracle of Balaam the son of Beor, the oracle of the man whose eye is opened,


How fair are your tents, O Jacob, your encampments, O Israel!


And he became hungry and desired something to eat; but while they were preparing it, he fell into a trance


And while Peter was pondering the vision, the Spirit said to him, “Behold, three men are looking for you.


“When I had returned to Jerusalem and was praying in the temple, I fell into a trance


I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet


When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand upon me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last,


And he too stripped off his clothes, and he too prophesied before Samuel, and lay naked all that day and all that night. Hence it is said, “Is Saul also among the prophets?”
