These two things have befallen you— who will condole with you?— devastation and destruction, famine and sword; who will comfort you?


“Who will have pity on you, O Jerusalem, or who will bemoan you? Who will turn aside to ask about your welfare?


Therefore, thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I am bringing punishment on the king of Babylon and his land, as I punished the king of Assyria.


We would have healed Babylon, but she was not healed. Forsake her, and let us go each to his own country; for her judgment has reached up to heaven and has been lifted up even to the skies.

they will stand far off, in fear of her torment, and say, “Alas! alas! thou great city, thou mighty city, Babylon! In one hour has thy judgment come.”
