“Yea, the light of the wicked is put out, and the flame of his fire does not shine.


“How often is it that the lamp of the wicked is put out? That their calamity comes upon them? That God distributes pains in his anger?


Truly no man can ransom himself, or give to God the price of his life,


The light of the righteous rejoices, but the lamp of the wicked will be put out.


If one curses his father or his mother, his lamp will be put out in utter darkness.


“Then the kingdom of heaven shall be compared to ten maidens who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom.


Then all those maidens rose and trimmed their lamps.


But the wise replied, ‘Perhaps there will not be enough for us and for you; go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves.’


and do not presume to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father’; for I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise up children to Abraham.


“Let your loins be girded and your lamps burning,


And he called out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy upon me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am in anguish in this flame.’


Take heed then how you hear; for to him who has will more be given, and from him who has not, even what he thinks that he has will be taken away.”


And Simon answered, “Pray for me to the Lord, that nothing of what you have said may come upon me.”


Therefore, while the promise of entering his rest remains, let us fear lest any of you be judged to have failed to reach it.


Behold, I will make those of the synagogue of Satan who say that they are Jews and are not, but lie—behold, I will make them come and bow down before your feet, and learn that I have loved you.
