This was to fulfil what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah:


He was still speaking, when lo, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.”


and a voice came from heaven, “Thou art my beloved Son; with thee I am well pleased.”


And a cloud overshadowed them, and a voice came out of the cloud, “This is my beloved Son; listen to him.”


And the people stood by, watching; but the rulers scoffed at him, saying, “He saved others; let him save himself, if he is the Christ of God, his Chosen One!”


and the Holy Spirit descended upon him in bodily form, as a dove, and a voice came from heaven, “Thou art my beloved Son; with thee I am well pleased.”


“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed,


And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, my Chosen; listen to him!”


For he whom God has sent utters the words of God, for it is not by measure that he gives the Spirit;


how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power; how he went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.


When they heard this they were silenced. And they glorified God, saying, “Then to the Gentiles also God has granted repentance unto life.”


And when they arrived, they gathered the church together and declared all that God had done with them, and how he had opened a door of faith to the Gentiles.


to the praise of his glorious grace which he freely bestowed on us in the Beloved.

He has delivered us from the dominion of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son,


Come to him, to that living stone, rejected by men but in God's sight chosen and precious;


For when he received honor and glory from God the Father and the voice was borne to him by the Majestic Glory, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased,”
