To the Lord our God belong mercy and forgiveness; because we have rebelled against him,


He who blasphemes the name of the Lord shall be put to death; all the congregation shall stone him; the sojourner as well as the native, when he blasphemes the Name, shall be put to death.


He will again have compassion upon us, he will tread our iniquities under foot. Thou wilt cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.


Then the high priest tore his robes, and said, “He has uttered blasphemy. Why do we still need witnesses? You have now heard his blasphemy.


And behold, some of the scribes said to themselves, “This man is blaspheming.”


Bear fruits that befit repentance, and do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father’; for I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise up children to Abraham.


On one of those days, as he was teaching, there were Pharisees and teachers of the law sitting by, who had come from every village of Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem; and the power of the Lord was with him to heal.


When Jesus perceived their questionings, he answered them, “Why do you question in your hearts?


Then those who were at table with him began to say among themselves, “Who is this, who even forgives sins?”


The Jews answered him, “It is not for a good work that we stone you but for blasphemy; because you, being a man, make yourself God.”


Who shall bring any charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies;
