In all places where I have moved with all the people of Israel, did I speak a word with any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to shepherd my people Israel, saying, “Why have you not built me a house of cedar?” ’


And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel.”


I have built thee an exalted house, a place for thee to dwell in for ever.”


“But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain thee; how much less this house which I have built!


Then the anger of the Lord was kindled against his people, and he abhorred his heritage;


His abode has been established in Salem, his dwelling place in Zion.


When God heard, he was full of wrath, and he utterly rejected Israel.


And let them make me a sanctuary, that I may dwell in their midst.


And I will dwell among the people of Israel, and will be their God.


And they shall know that I am the Lord their God, who brought them forth out of the land of Egypt that I might dwell among them; I am the Lord their God.


Do not spurn us, for thy name's sake; do no dishonor thy glorious throne; remember and do not break thy covenant with us.


The Lord has scorned his altar, disowned his sanctuary; he has delivered into the hand of the enemy the walls of her palaces; a clamor was raised in the house of the Lord as on the day of an appointed feast.


You shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I, the Lord, am your God and there is none else. And my people shall never again be put to shame.


And you shall not walk in the customs of the nation which I am casting out before you; for they did all these things, and therefore I abhorred them.


if you spurn my statutes, and if your soul abhors my ordinances, so that you will not do all my commandments, but break my covenant,


But the land shall be left by them, and enjoy its sabbaths while it lies desolate without them; and they shall make amends for their iniquity, because they spurned my ordinances, and their soul abhorred my statutes.


Yet for all that, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not spurn them, neither will I abhor them so as to destroy them utterly and break my covenant with them; for I am the Lord their God;


In one month I destroyed the three shepherds. But I became impatient with them, and they also detested me.

“The Lord saw it, and spurned them, because of the provocation of his sons and his daughters.

And Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest said to the Reubenites and the Gadites and the Manassites, “Today we know that the Lord is in the midst of us, because you have not committed this treachery against the Lord; now you have saved the people of Israel from the hand of the Lord.”


and I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling of God is with men. He will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself will be with them;


Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night within his temple; and he who sits upon the throne will shelter them with his presence.
