So Joshua went up from Gilgal, he and all the people of war with him, and all the mighty men of valor.


They gave them Kiriath-arba (Arba being the father of Anak), that is Hebron, in the hill country of Judah, along with the pasture lands round about it.


While the people of Israel were encamped in Gilgal they kept the passover on the fourteenth day of the month at evening in the plains of Jericho.


And Joshua made peace with them, and made a covenant with them, to let them live; and the leaders of the congregation swore to them.


And they went to Joshua in the camp at Gilgal, and said to him and to the men of Israel, “We have come from a far country; so now make a covenant with us.”


They said to Joshua, “We are your servants.” And Joshua said to them, “Who are you? And where do you come from?”
