Hear the word of the Lord, you who tremble at his word: “Your brethren who hate you and cast you out for my name's sake have said, ‘Let the Lord be glorified, that we may see your joy’; but it is they who shall be put to shame.


and you will be dragged before governors and kings for my sake, to bear testimony before them and the Gentiles.


and you will be hated by all for my name's sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved.


He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for my sake will find it.

“Blessed are you when men hate you, and when they exclude you and revile you, and cast out your name as evil, on account of the Son of man!


If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would not have sin; but now they have seen and hated both me and my Father.


And they will do this because they have not known the Father, nor me.


O righteous Father, the world has not known thee, but I have known thee; and these know that thou hast sent me.


They said to him therefore, “Where is your Father?” Jesus answered, “You know neither me nor my Father; if you knew me, you would know my Father also.”


Jesus answered, “If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing; it is my Father who glorifies me, of whom you say that he is your God.


But you have not known him; I know him. If I said, I do not know him, I should be a liar like you; but I do know him and I keep his word.


For as I passed along, and observed the objects of your worship, I found also an altar with this inscription, ‘To an unknown god.’ What therefore you worship as unknown, this I proclaim to you.


“I myself was convinced that I ought to do many things in opposing the name of Jesus of Nazareth.


“And now, brethren, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did also your rulers.


But in order that it may spread no further among the people, let us warn them to speak no more to any one in this name.”


Then they left the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer dishonor for the name.


and here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call upon thy name.”


for I will show him how much he must suffer for the sake of my name.”


And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a base mind and to improper conduct.


Come to your right mind, and sin no more. For some have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame.


None of the rulers of this age understood this; for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.


inflicting vengeance upon those who do not know God and upon those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.


See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him.


For they have set out for his sake and have accepted nothing from the heathen.


I know you are enduring patiently and bearing up for my name's sake, and you have not grown weary.
