Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus;


Now when he heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew into Galilee;


But Jesus said to him, “Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead.”


As Jesus passed on from there, he saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax office; and he said to him, “Follow me.” And he rose and followed him.


For the Son of man came to seek and to save the lost.”


This took place in Bethany beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing.


The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!


The next day again John was standing with two of his disciples;


The two disciples heard him say this, and they followed Jesus.


Now Philip was from Beth-saida, the city of Andrew and Peter.


So these came to Philip, who was from Beth-saida in Galilee, and said to him, “Sir, we wish to see Jesus.”


Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and we shall be satisfied.”


This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and manifested his glory; and his disciples believed in him.


Lifting up his eyes, then, and seeing that a multitude was coming to him, Jesus said to Philip, “How are we to buy bread, so that these people may eat?”


Philip answered him, “Two hundred denarii would not buy enough bread for each of them to get a little.”


Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect; but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own.


We love, because he first loved us.
