I will say to God, Do not condemn me; let me know why thou dost contend against me.


“For has any one said to God, ‘I have borne chastisement; I will not offend any more;


teach me what I do not see; if I have done iniquity, I will do it no more’?


The Lord looks down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there are any that act wisely, that seek after God.


Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you; therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you. For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him.


Because of the iniquity of his covetousness I was angry, I smote him, I hid my face and was angry; but he went on backsliding in the way of his own heart.


He saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no one to intervene; then his own arm brought him victory, and his righteousness upheld him.


I have heard what the prophets have said who prophesy lies in my name, saying, ‘I have dreamed, I have dreamed!’


will he be angry for ever, will he be indignant to the end?’ Behold, you have spoken, but you have done all the evil that you could.”


Run to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, look and take note! Search her squares to see if you can find a man, one who does justice and seeks truth; that I may pardon her.


Because he considered and turned away from all the transgressions which he had committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die.


And I sought for a man among them who should build up the wall and stand in the breach before me for the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found none.


All Israel has transgressed thy law and turned aside, refusing to obey thy voice. And the curse and oath which are written in the law of Moses the servant of God have been poured out upon us, because we have sinned against him.


The godly man has perished from the earth, and there is none upright among men; they all lie in wait for blood, and each hunts his brother with a net.


I said, ‘Surely she will fear me, she will accept correction; she will not lose sight of all that I have enjoined upon her.’ But all the more they were eager to make all their deeds corrupt.”


Now therefore thus says the Lord of hosts: Consider how you have fared.


“Thus says the Lord of hosts: Consider how you have fared.


Then those who feared the Lord spoke with one another; the Lord heeded and heard them, and a book of remembrance was written before him of those who feared the Lord and thought on his name.


The Lord is not slow about his promise as some count slowness, but is forbearing toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.


The rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands nor give up worshiping demons and idols of gold and silver and bronze and stone and wood, which cannot either see or hear or walk;
