Thus says the Lord to me, “Go and buy a linen waistcloth, and put it on your loins, and do not dip it in water.”

‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Take these deeds, both this sealed deed of purchase and this open deed, and put them in an earthenware vessel, that they may last for a long time.


The precious sons of Zion, worth their weight in fine gold, how they are reckoned as earthen pots, the work of a potter's hands!


“And you, O son of man, take a brick and lay it before you, and portray upon it a city, even Jerusalem;


“And you, O son of man, take a sharp sword; use it as a barber's razor and pass it over your head and your beard; then take balances for weighing, and divide the hair.


slay old men outright, young men and maidens, little children and women, but touch no one upon whom is the mark. And begin at my sanctuary.” So they began with the elders who were before the house.


And the Lord said to Moses, “Gather for me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom you know to be the elders of the people and officers over them; and bring them to the tent of meeting, and let them take their stand there with you.


Then the chief priests and the elders of the people gathered in the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas,


When morning came, all the chief priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death;


And coming to us he took Paul's girdle and bound his own feet and hands, and said, “Thus says the Holy Spirit, ‘So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man who owns this girdle and deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.’ ”


But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, to show that the transcendent power belongs to God and not to us.
