behold, I now do according to your word. Behold, I give you a wise and discerning mind, so that none like you has been before you and none like you shall arise after you.


And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had rendered; and they stood in awe of the king, because they perceived that the wisdom of God was in him, to render justice.


Give thy servant therefore an understanding mind to govern thy people, that I may discern between good and evil; for who is able to govern this thy great people?”


Only, may the Lord grant you discretion and understanding, that when he gives you charge over Israel you may keep the law of the Lord your God.


Behold, a son shall be born to you; he shall be a man of peace. I will give him peace from all his enemies round about; for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quiet to Israel in his days.


“But where shall wisdom be found? And where is the place of understanding?


“God understands the way to it, and he knows its place.


And he said to man, ‘Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.’ ”


And Moses called Bezalel and Oholiab and every able man in whose mind the Lord had put ability, every one whose heart stirred him up to come to do the work;


For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding;


He shall judge between the nations, and shall decide for many peoples; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.


For the fool speaks folly, and his mind plots iniquity: to practice ungodliness, to utter error concerning the Lord, to leave the craving of the hungry unsatisfied, and to deprive the thirsty of drink.


He will feed his flock like a shepherd, he will gather the lambs in his arms, he will carry them in his bosom, and gently lead those that are with young.


As for these four youths, God gave them learning and skill in all letters and wisdom; and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.


and so I make you despised and abased before all the people, inasmuch as you have not kept my ways but have shown partiality in your instruction.”


he will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and he will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, till they present right offerings to the Lord.


So you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but within you are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.


“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.


“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.


for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which none of your adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict.


Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.


And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth; we have beheld his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father.


Jesus saw Nathana-el coming to him, and said of him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!”


for he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a large company was added to the Lord.


Now there was at Joppa a disciple named Tabitha, which means Dorcas. She was full of good works and acts of charity.


If possible, so far as it depends upon you, live peaceably with all.


Let love be genuine; hate what is evil, hold fast to what is good;


I myself am satisfied about you, my brethren, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, and able to instruct one another.


To one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit,


I, Paul, myself entreat you, by the meekness and gentleness of Christ—I who am humble when face to face with you, but bold to you when I am away! —


by purity, knowledge, forbearance, kindness, the Holy Spirit, genuine love,


For see what earnestness this godly grief has produced in you, what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what alarm, what longing, what zeal, what punishment! At every point you have proved yourselves guiltless in the matter.


He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your resources and increase the harvest of your righteousness.


(for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true),


filled with the fruits of righteousness which come through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.


Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.


to lead a life worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.


But we were gentle among you, like a nurse taking care of her children.


In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus and of the elect angels I charge you to keep these rules without favor, doing nothing from partiality.


And the Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome but kindly to every one, an apt teacher, forbearing,


To the pure all things are pure, but to the corrupt and unbelieving nothing is pure; their very minds and consciences are corrupted.


to speak evil of no one, to avoid quarreling, to be gentle, and to show perfect courtesy toward all men.


For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant; later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.


Strive for peace with all men, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.


Every good endowment and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.


If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives to all men generously and without reproaching, and it will be given him.


For judgment is without mercy to one who has shown no mercy; yet mercy triumphs over judgment.


have you not made distinctions among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts?


This wisdom is not such as comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, devilish.


Draw near to God and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you men of double mind.


Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere love of the brethren, love one another earnestly from the heart.


So put away all malice and all guile and insincerity and envy and all slander.


Servants, be submissive to your masters with all respect, not only to the kind and gentle but also to the overbearing.


Little children, let us not love in word or speech but in deed and in truth.


And every one who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure.
