You shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskins, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and you.


Then Abraham took Ishmael his son and all the slaves born in his house or bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham's house, and he circumcised the flesh of their foreskins that very day, as God had said to him.


and all the men of his house, those born in the house and those bought with money from a foreigner, were circumcised with him.


And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac when he was eight days old, as God had commanded him.


Only on this condition will we consent to you: that you will become as we are and every male of you be circumcised.


Only on this condition will the men agree to dwell with us, to become one people: that every male among us be circumcised as they are circumcised.


And when a stranger shall sojourn with you and would keep the passover to the Lord, let all his males be circumcised, then he may come near and keep it; he shall be as a native of the land. But no uncircumcised person shall eat of it.


Then Zipporah took a flint and cut off her son's foreskin, and touched Moses' feet with it, and said, “Surely you are a bridegroom of blood to me!”


Circumcise yourselves to the Lord, remove the foreskin of your hearts, O men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem; lest my wrath go forth like fire, and burn with none to quench it, because of the evil of your doings.”


Moses gave you circumcision (not that it is from Moses, but from the fathers), and you circumcise a man upon the sabbath.


And he gave him the covenant of circumcision. And so Abraham became the father of Isaac, and circumcised him on the eighth day; and Isaac became the father of Jacob, and Jacob of the twelve patriarchs.


For he is not a real Jew who is one outwardly, nor is true circumcision something external and physical.


whom God put forward as an expiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins;


For we hold that a man is justified by faith apart from works of law.


since God is one; and he will justify the circumcised on the ground of their faith and the uncircumcised through their faith.

It is those who want to make a good showing in the flesh that would compel you to be circumcised, and only in order that they may not be persecuted for the cross of Christ.


Therefore remember that at one time you Gentiles in the flesh, called the uncircumcision by what is called the circumcision, which is made in the flesh by hands—


Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no longer stubborn.


And the Lord your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your offspring, so that you will love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, that you may live.


For we are the true circumcision, who worship God in spirit, and glory in Christ Jesus, and put no confidence in the flesh.


At that time the Lord said to Joshua, “Make flint knives and circumcise the people of Israel again the second time.”


And this is the reason why Joshua circumcised them: all the males of the people who came out of Egypt, all the men of war, had died on the way in the wilderness after they had come out of Egypt.
