Then David said to Gad, “I am in great distress; let us fall into the hand of the Lord, for his mercy is great; but let me not fall into the hand of man.”


And hearken thou to the supplication of thy servant and of thy people Israel, when they pray toward this place; yea, hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place; and when thou hearest, forgive.


Nevertheless in thy great mercies thou didst not make an end of them or forsake them; for thou art a gracious and merciful God.


But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.


O Israel, hope in the Lord! For with the Lord there is steadfast love, and with him is plenteous redemption.


and that to thee, O Lord, belongs steadfast love. For thou dost requite a man according to his work.


But thou, O Lord, art a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.


For thou, O Lord, art good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call on thee.


let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, that he may have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.


I will recount the steadfast love of the Lord, the praises of the Lord, according to all that the Lord has granted us, and the great goodness to the house of Israel which he has granted them according to his mercy, according to the abundance of his steadfast love.


“Though our iniquities testify against us, act, O Lord, for thy name's sake; for our backslidings are many, we have sinned against thee.


But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness; they did not walk in my statutes but rejected my ordinances, by whose observance man shall live; and my sabbaths they greatly profaned. “Then I thought I would pour out my wrath upon them in the wilderness, to make a full end of them.


we have sinned and done wrong and acted wickedly and rebelled, turning aside from thy commandments and ordinances;


we have not listened to thy servants the prophets, who spoke in thy name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.


To thee, O Lord, belongs righteousness, but to us confusion of face, as at this day, to the men of Judah, to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to all Israel, those that are near and those that are far away, in all the lands to which thou hast driven them, because of the treachery which they have committed against thee.


To us, O Lord, belongs confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee.


And he prayed to the Lord and said, “I pray thee, Lord, is not this what I said when I was yet in my country? That is why I made haste to flee to Tarshish; for I knew that thou art a gracious God and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love, and repentest of evil.
