Then Daniel said to the steward whom the chief of the eunuchs had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Misha-el, and Azariah,


Then let our appearance and the appearance of the youths who eat the king's rich food be observed by you, and according to what you see deal with your servants.”


So the steward took away their rich food and the wine they were to drink, and gave them vegetables.


One believes he may eat anything, while the weak man eats only vegetables.


And he humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know; that he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but that man lives by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord.


Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and for ten days you will have tribulation. Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.
