for I have five brothers, so that he may warn them, lest they also come into this place of torment.’


He first found his brother Simon, and said to him, “We have found the Messiah” (which means Christ).


So the Jews gathered round him and said to him, “How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Christ, tell us plainly.”


and you also are witnesses, because you have been with me from the beginning.


You yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but I have been sent before him.


And he commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that he is the one ordained by God to be judge of the living and the dead.


Then it seemed good to the apostles and the elders, with the whole church, to choose men from among them and send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas. They sent Judas called Barsabbas, and Silas, leading men among the brethren,


And he came also to Derbe and to Lystra. A disciple was there, named Timothy, the son of a Jewish woman who was a believer; but his father was a Greek.


and from there to Philippi, which is the leading city of the district of Macedonia, and a Roman colony. We remained in this city some days;


And a vision appeared to Paul in the night: a man of Macedonia was standing beseeching him and saying, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.”


explaining and proving that it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead, and saying, “This Jesus, whom I proclaim to you, is the Christ.”


for he powerfully confuted the Jews in public, showing by the scriptures that the Christ was Jesus.


Let all the house of Israel therefore know assuredly that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.”


testifying both to Jews and to Greeks of repentance to God and of faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.


except that the Holy Spirit testifies to me in every city that imprisonment and afflictions await me.


But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may accomplish my course and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.


for we cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard.”


But Saul increased all the more in strength, and confounded the Jews who lived in Damascus by proving that Jesus was the Christ.


For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, whom we preached among you, Silvanus and Timothy and I, was not Yes and No; but in him it is always Yes.


And when I was with you and was in want, I did not burden any one, for my needs were supplied by the brethren who came from Macedonia. So I refrained and will refrain from burdening you in any way.


For the love of Christ controls us, because we are convinced that one has died for all; therefore all have died.


I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better.


and we sent Timothy, our brother and God's servant in the gospel of Christ, to establish you in your faith and to exhort you,


But now that Timothy has come to us from you, and has brought us the good news of your faith and love and reported that you always remember us kindly and long to see us, as we long to see you—


By Silvanus, a faithful brother as I regard him, I have written briefly to you, exhorting and declaring that this is the true grace of God; stand fast in it.
