For the commandment is a lamp and the teaching a light, and the reproofs of discipline are the way of life,

He was a burning and shining lamp, and you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light.


You search the scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness to me;

For if the message declared by angels was valid and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution,


If you really fulfil the royal law, according to the scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you do well.


The prophets who prophesied of the grace that was to be yours searched and inquired about this salvation;


He who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. He who does not believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has borne to his Son.


who have testified to your love before the church. You will do well to send them on their journey as befits God's service.


and I will give him the morning star.


“I Jesus have sent my angel to you with this testimony for the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, the bright morning star.”
